Little Learners Love Literacy

Building Strong Foundations in Literacy Prep to Year 2

In accordance with evidence-based literacy research, we emphasize the critical role of explicit and sequential literacy instruction right from the outset of your child’s education journey with us. Our primary objective is to ensure that every Foundation classroom provides a robust phonics program, offering children the optimal opportunity to become proficient readers, writers, and spellers.

At our school, under the leadership of our literacy co-ordinator Pania Malesevic, we implement the Little Learners Love Literacy® program, a structured and engaging approach designed to deliver focused, explicit lessons. This program incorporates a variety of activities such as games, crafts, music, puppets, drawing, and more, ensuring that learning is both systematic and enjoyable.

By integrating these methods into our curriculum, we aim to cultivate a love for literacy while equipping students with the essential skills they need to succeed. We are committed to fostering a supportive learning environment where every child can thrive academically and develop a lifelong passion for reading and writing.

Together, we are laying the groundwork for your child’s future success in literacy and beyond.

Fountas and Pennell

Developing Strong, independent Literacy Learners

Fountas & Pinnell Classroom™ (FPC) is a comprehensive literacy instruction system for students in years 3 to 6. It integrates whole-group, small-group, and independent learning through activities such as interactive read-alouds, reading and writing mini-lessons, shared reading, phonics and word study, guided reading, book clubs, and independent reading collections. FPC emphasizes authentic texts and a systematic teaching approach to transform literacy instruction, promoting engagement in reading, critical thinking, meaningful discussion, effective writing, and thoughtful reflection. It aims to nurture deep literacy skills and cultivate a genuine appreciation for living a literate life both in and out of the classroom.
