The Arts Program for Term 2, 2021

 

Preps

During our Term 2 Arts unit ‘'Respect, Responsibility and Our Environment', students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities. This includes weekly drama warm up activities, such as name games and mime. During dance, students will be encouraged to build confidence in copying dance ideas. They will develop their understanding of characters and settings in media activities. In music, students will be introduced to the difference between noise and music and experiment making different sounds with percussion instruments during group rhythm activities. In visual art, activities will include investigating colour mixing with paints and sculpting with plasticine.

 

Grade 1 and 2

During the term 2 Arts unit of work ‘Respect, Responsibility and Our Environment’, students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities. They will participate in drama activities where they communicate verbally and non-verbally during role-play. Students will learn to identify features of media artworks such as main characters, settings, colour and sound. In weekly dance and music sessions students will learn to imitate and extend dance movements and experiment with percussion instruments to follow simple short rhythmic patterns. Visual art will include what needs to be included when drawing landscapes, creating texture through using paint techniques and rubbing plates and experimenting with sculpture using plasticine.

 

Grade 3

During the term 2 Arts unit of work ‘Respect, Responsibility and Our Environment’, students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities. They will participate in drama activities to develop their spatial awareness and voice during improvisations. Students will explore pace, rhythm and time in music with both body and percussion instruments and experiment with sequences in media to clearly establish a beginning, middle and end of a story. During weekly dance lessons they will be imitating, creating or building on a combination of dance movements. During visual art, students will discuss what is needed to draw landscapes including perspective, investigate creating texture through using paint techniques and rubbing plates, and experiment with sculpture using plasticine.
