The Arts Program for Term 3, 2021

Prep

During our Term 3 Arts unit ‘Creativity, Determination and Resilience”, students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities. This includes drama activities such as using puppets. During dance students will be encouraged to build confidence in copying dance ideas. They will develop their understanding of characters and settings in media activities.  In music students will experiment making different sounds with percussion instruments during group rhythm activities. Visual art activities will include printing, creating animals inspired by Indigenous Dreamtime stories and sculpting with plasticine.

 

 

Year 1 and 2

During our Term 3 Arts unit ‘Creativity, Determination and Resilience”, students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities.  They will participate in drama activities where they communicate verbally and non-verbally during role-play. Students will learn to create animations with a series of images in media. In dance and music sessions students will learn to create and extend dance movements and experiment with percussion instruments to follow simple short rhythmic patterns. Visual art will include creating mixed media responses to Indigenous Dreamtime stories, printing using paint techniques and rubbing plates and experimenting with sculpture using plasticine.

 

Year 3

During our Term 3 Arts unit ‘Creativity, Determination and Resilience”, students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities. They will participate in drama activities to develop their spatial awareness and voice during improvisations. Students will explore pace, rhythm and time in music with percussion instruments and experiment with Stop Motion techniques in media. During dance lessons they will be creating or building on a combination of dance movements.  Visual art will include creating mixed media responses to Indigenous Dream-time stories, printing using paint techniques and rubbing plates and experimenting with sculpture using plasticine.

 

Year 4

During the term 3 Arts unit of work “Inspired by….” students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities inspired by a variety of artists from around the world.

They will participate in drama activities to develop their spatial awareness, and voice during improvisations. Students will explore pace, rhythm, and time in music with both body and percussion instruments.

They will also experiment with sequences in media to clearly establish a beginning, middle and end of a story. During weekly dance lessons they will in imitating, creating, and building on a combination of dance movements in small groups.  

During visual art students will discuss what is needed to draw landscapes including 3D perspective, investigate creating texture through various drawing techniques and experiment with sculpture using plasticine to create an endangered animal habitat.

 

Years 5 & 6

During the term 3 Arts unit of work “Inspired by….” students will explore a range of drama, dance, media arts, music and visual art activities inspired by a variety of artists from around the world.

They will participate in drama activities to develop their empathy, spatial awareness, and voice during improvisations. Students will explore pace, rhythm, and time in music with both body and percussion instruments.

They will also research, and experiment with Pop Art in media to clearly establish an art genre still popular today. During weekly dance lessons they will be imitating, creating, and building on a combination of dance movements in small groups.  

During visual art students will discuss what is needed to draw landscapes including 3D perspective, investigate creating texture through using drawing and paint techniques and experiment with sculpture using clay and plasticine to create an endangered animal habitat.
